Imagine starting 2020 with every weekend (apart for 2) booked out with events. Then, COVID-19 hits. And like many businesses, we went from all – to nothing in a week.
So rather than bury our heads in the sand, we spent the year setting up our new studio in Caringbah where we now operate out of and focused on improving the business so we were ready when life became somewhat normal again.
Coming out of COVID, the JLD team welcomed the start of 2021 and our 10th year in operation. We hit the ground running with up to 10 events booked per week, which resulted in the expansion of our staff and management team to better manage our workload.
It has once again been so amazing to be able to work alongside some amazing clients such as –
- NRL clubs the Cronulla Sharks & St George Illawarra Dragons, to provide game day entertainment which includes managing dance teams, junior dance teams, and DJ’s;
- The NRL Magic Round in Brisbane in May, providing talent, promotional staff, dancers, mascots, and assistants to assist with the 3 full days of entertainment in several locations;
- The NBL Illawarra Hawks whose entire season was condensed into a 4 month season meaning multiple game night entertainment per week;
- Australian Turf Club Autumn Carnival providing talent and staff for major racing events;
- And to also gain a new client in the NSW Swifts for the Suncorp Super Netball series.
The rebuild of our business has been extremely hard and challenging, however we are so proud of the team, staff and talent that we have at JLD and everyone who stepped up to the next level to help produce what we did.
We have an outstanding team of people here at JLD and we can’t wait to see what the second half of the year brings us!
